Review: ReDawn

ReDawn (Skyward, #2.2)ReDawn by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A wonderful addition to the Skyward series. I adore Alanik, and I enjoyed getting to see her world and the larger conflict through her alien eyes. I also loved the way she interpreted some of the human customs and expressions that were foreign to her. Her unique perspective often added a dose of levity to break up the tension.

This story has all the action and emotion I expect from this series, culminating in a glorious battle on Alanik's homeworld (which is a cluster of space trees!). This story focused a lot on galactic politics and the difficulty of having to choose between what the people in charge are telling you to do versus what you believe is the right thing to do. We get to see more of FM and Rig, as well as Jorgen, and we get a good deal of foreshadowing about the larger conflict that is coming as the flight makes choices that will have far-reaching consequences.
